5 Tiny Tweaks That Will Kickstart Your Health, From Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Naturopath

“Spring is a time for renewal and growth—mental, physical, and emotional, we need all three,” says Dr. Nigma Talib—and she would know. The Los Angeles and London–based naturopathic doctor is responsible for Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s long, lean frame and perennial glow, which Talib credits to a seasonal and holistic wellness approach that targets beauty from the inside out. What better time than spring, the season of rebirth, to give new life to your own routine? From the vitamin-rich ingredients worth picking up from the farmers’ unblocked sites at school market to the homemade mask guaranteed to give your complexion an instant boost, here are five tips from Talib to help you look and feel better than ever.

Swap Your Winter Starch for Cleansing Supergreens
“Asparagus is the ultimate spring vegetable—packed with vitamins and phytonutrients, such as vitamin K, and rich in saponins, which help with anti-inflammation. Avocados are so much fun and can be added in almost every meal. They’re rich in folate and carotenoids, which help boost your immune system during the change of season, when it can be more vulnerable unblocked sites. Broccoli is a super-powerful vegetable, full of antioxidants and detoxifying properties—perfect for spring cleaning your body, boosting your immune system, and balancing your hormones.”

Take Immune-Boosting, Allergy-Fighting Supplements Every Day
“Vitamin C with bioflavonoids prevents the formation of histamine, which is common during springtime. You can easily take 2,000 to 6,000 mg per day. Additionally, vitamin C supports the immune system while increasing collagen production in the skin. EPA and DHA fish oils are natural anti-inflammatory agents and a favorite springtime support. They can help the immune system and various allergy-induced skin conditions, as well as hay fever—two to three capsules, taken twice daily with meals.”

Add a Bi-Weekly Burst of High-Intensity Exercise to Your Workout
“A high-intensity interval training workout is normally short, fast, and hard, combining short bursts of cardiovascular moves, such as sprinting or cycling, with short, slow recovery sessions. It’s great to fit into the busiest times [like spring], but you shouldn’t make all of your sessions HIIT, as this can lead to overtraining. Do no more than two or three sessions lasting 20 minutes or less weekly.”

Take a Few Minutes to Meditate Each Morning
“Meditation is an amazing way to control, strengthen, and relax the mind. It’s also extremely beneficial for fighting aging [through stress reduction]. I particularly like a type of meditation called Kirtan Kriya exercise because it’s very quick to do—just 12 minutes a day practicing is enough to produce that anti-aging response."

Do This 10-Minute Papaya Mask to Exfoliate and Hydrate
“Not only is papaya loaded with antioxidants, it is also packed full of alpha-hydroxy acids. Yogurt is a natural source of antibiotics. Honey has the ability to encourage moisture in the skin without triggering the build-up of excess oil—it is also a natural skin brightener, so it’s great for blemishes and dark spots. Avocado is extremely effective for moisturizing and is perfect for dry skin, then egg whites tighten the skin.”

1/2 small ripe papaya
1/2 avocado
1 tsp. runny honey
1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
1 egg white
1 tsp. plain yogurt

Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. Apply the mixture to clean skin and leave on for 5-8 minutes. Rinse with warm water, then cool water, and pat dry.

Model profile: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is a British model, Vogue cover girl, and Victoria’s Secret Angel.
She was born on April 18, 1987 in Plymouth to Fiona, a fitness instructor, and Charles Huntington-Whiteley, a chartered surveyor and has two younger siblings, Toby and Florence.
Her great-great-grandfather was politician Sir Herbert Huntington-Whiteley, 1st Baronet, and her great-grandmother was descended from Polish Jewish immigrants of the 1870s.
She grew up in Tavistock, Devon, and in 2003, while studying at Tavistock College, Huntington-Whiteley was discovered by Profile Model Management while seeking internships with several London based modelling agencies.
After modelling in London for a year, Huntington-Whiteley made her Fashion Week debut at the autumn/winter 2004 shows and the following year walked for labels including Moschino, DSquared and Kenzo.
She appeared on her first international Vogue cover, for Vogue Nippon, in May of 2005.
Following her catwalk and Vogue debuts she appeared in a slew of campaigns for high street and beauty brands including Topshop, Abercrombie & Fitch, French Connection and Clinique as well as DKNY, LAMB, Pepe Jeans and Ralph Lauren.
The model made her Victoria's Secret debut at the brand's 2006 show in Los Angeles among established names including Gisele Bündchen, Karolina Kurkova and Adriana Lima.
In 2008, Huntington-Whiteley was cast by Christopher Bailey as the face of Burberry's autumn/winter 2008 campaign with actor Sam Riley.
Her first British Vogue cover, for November 2008, saw her pictured alongside Eden Clark and Jourdan Dunn in a feature celebrating British models.
In 2009, she starred in a provocative short film for Agent Provocateur.
In late 2009, Huntington-Whiteley officially became a Victoria's Secret Angel.
She was cast by controversial photographer Terry Richardson alongside models including Daisy Lowe and Lily Cole, Miranda Kerr, Abbey Lee and Ana Beatriz Barros for the 2010's Pirelli Calendar.
Huntington-Whiteley dated Tyrone Wood, the youngest son of Ronnie Wood, from August 2007 until October 2009. When the pair separated she began a relationship with French actor Olivier Martinez, which ended after a few months in early 2010.
She made her acting debut in 2011 in Transformers 3.

Transformers' Rosie Huntington-Whiteley moves in with Jason Statham

THE relationship between movie star Jason Statham and Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is becoming Hollywood’s hottest romance.
The couple, whom started dating in April, have now decided to take the next step and move in together, The Daily Mail newspaper in the UK reports.

Rosie, 23, who quit London for Hollywood after landing Megan Fox's role in Transformers 3, is currently filming in Chicago while Jason is travelling the world promoting his new movie The Expendables.

When their work commitments finish they will return to LA, where Statham has just bought a new house.

"They seem very happy together. Rosie’s on the make and being with a big star like Jason is doing her career no harm at all," says a friend.

"She has been excitedly telling all her friends that they are going to be moving in together."

Mind you, Jason, 37, is keeping one eye on Rosie while she films Transformers with co-star Shia LaBeouf.

"Rosie jokes about how sexy Shia is because she knows it winds Jason up. Jason wants to make sure he holds on to Rosie, and moving in is a sign of his commitment to her," adds the source.

Marks and Spencer clothes sales fall as shareholders brand fashion 'ugly, vulgar, crude and cheap'

M&S are suffering a drop in sales blamed on the cold weather earlier this year, but share holders think the designs may be at fault

Marks and Spencer’s clothing revival was short lived after another drop in sales.
Boss Marc Bolland got a boost when M&S delivered its first rise in clothing takings in four years at the start of the year.
But he suffered another setback after general merchandise - mainly clothes - dropped 0.4% in the 13 weeks to the end of June.
Bolland blamed the latest fall on cold weather in May impacting demand for its spring and summer collections.
That said, it was much less than the 1% slide the market was expecting.

Meanwhile, quarterly food sales grew by 0.3% when rival grocers have posted declines and its online arm jumped 38.7%.
Bolland insisted: “We continue to make progress against our key priorities.”
It came as Bolland and the rest of the M&S board faced a grilling at the company’s annual general meeting yesterday.
Clothing is key to M&S’s success, with big efforts made to improve its designs and sourcing.
A collection by actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has also been a hit.
But shareholders lined-up to criticise its ranges.
One said: “Your patterns look like somebody’s had a bad dream, got out of bed and thrown paint at a canvas.”
Another said: “I could weep when I see what’s in stores today” singling out “ugly and vulgar” prints, and “crude, cheap” designs.
Marks & Spencer turned a corner in May by posting its first annual profits increase in four years - up 6.1% to £661.2million.
Bolland took over at M&S in 2010 and during his tenure he saw rival Next overtake the annual profits haul at his business.
Under his leadership, M&S has poured billions of pounds of investment into the business to try to turn around its fortunes
Richard Hunter, head of equities at Hargreaves Lansdown, said: “The elephant in the changing room remains, in the form of general merchandise.
“Whether M&S can ever return to former glories by enticing clothes shoppers back to its stores is arguably its largest challenge, even though the more recent experience implies at least a stabilisation of previously dropping numbers.”
